The minipulation of words

I have a confession
and it may come as shocking
but during the past month after reading the introduction of every book i pick up  i cant continue to the chapters which follow
the introductions are so amazing i don't want it to spoil my take on the book
I recently came to the realisation that i don't enjoy books or plots but i enjoy the writing, execution and manipulation ( you could say ) of words however this latest discovery has startled me
i began reading Tess of the D'urbervilles in the past holidays and couldn't go on after the intro
It was so perfectly written that i decided i would enjoy it more than the book
thinking it was a phase i picked up The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin, and while i did make it to chapter 5 i felt unsatisfied that i had continued after the introduction
Is this Weird?

I'm going to continue to search for more perfect introductions, and while i may not read the book, I'd say I'll have enjoyed it just as much

Favourite Introductions

Tess of D'Urbervilles ( Thomas Hardy ) : Introduction By P.N.Furnbank
The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin ( Mark Twain ) : Introduction by George Saunders
The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde ) : Introduction by John M. L Drew
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer ( Mark Twain ) : Introduction by John Seelye
The call of the wild ( Jack London ) : Introduction by E.L Doctrow

more to come :)
