Tina Kalivas's Latest collection appropriates and refines the classic associations of Tribal. The african prints have been constructed into streamline silhouettes. I love the Green and Yellow printed dress above. I have a formal coming up and just bought my dress before this collection came out. Instead i got a classic black draped Scanlan and Theodore Dress. It is stunning however lacks the color and eclectic statement these pieces bring. I guess its similar to comparing Audrey Hepburn ( who i use way too much as a reference ) and Marilyn Monroe. We know we should chose Audrey however we'd all love to experience being Marilyn for a day.Tina clearly has a talent in appropriating already current trends without making them boring or cliche. Too often tribal is associated with slipping on a Tiki dress and your done. This brings new meaning and has lifted the trend from mainstream fashion to high.
